Hi all. We just purchased a 2015 legacy after having a mechanic inspect the vehicle before we actually made the deal.
The issue we noticed during the test drive is that the vehicle SOUNDED like it was running at quite high RPM after reaching 25/30 mph and increased as speed increased. The RPM needle barely touched 1500 if even that much. Everything else was smooth. No grinding/rattling/shaking. No indication of a problem other than this sound.
The mechanic did a thorough test drive and told us that this is just how a CVT sounds. That it will "get used to" how we drive and sound better. Also that this legacy has more road noise than we may be used to.
This just feels strange, as I have not experienced this in any other vehicles I've driven that have CVT.
Does anyone else recognize this type of experience? Anything else we should be checking?
Thanks!
