The driver's side cam was lined up perfectly (along with the crank and other cam) when it moved about 2 inches (several teeth) counter-clockwise when I was trying to get the new timing belt on. And it moved quick, like it was spring loaded. I'm not sure if the next thing I did was smart or not. I put a wrench on the driver's side cam bolt and attempted to move it back so the marks lined up. I was almost at the mark when the cam then jumped 2 inches clockwise. I put a wrench back on it and was able to get the marks to line up again. Did I just screw up? If so, what do I need to to do to get this thing right again?

I ended up just taking a chance, crossing my fingers, and starting the car. Engine ran smooth. Big sigh of relief.

I hear ya .. between my 2000 & 2002 I did the TB a few times each. It's a bit scary because we don't know how close we are to damaging something when that happens. Should be fine.
