1995 Subaru Impreza

Hi,
I have a 1995 Subaru Impreza 1.8L AWD with 401,000kms, when I am
stopped the car idles very low and sort of jerks like it is going to
stall (although it never does). It started around the same time as I
had the spark plugs and oil changed. Also once it has been running and
I turn off the car if it doesn't sit for a while it will not turn on
unless I step on the gas pedal while I am starting it. I had the air
filter, the fuel filter changed, and the throttle body cleaned out.
When the throttle body was cleaned out it stopped the car jerking for a
couple of hours, and it starts with no problem now. I thought it was
maybe the fuel pump, but my mechanic says that it would have the same
problems when it was going not just when it was stopped...
Does anyone have any ideas on what I should try next (other than
getting a new car))
Thank you
Denise

I also put in a fuel injector cleaner in the car about 2 months before
this started and in the last oil change I put in oil stabilizer (Don't
know if that is relevent to anything...)

I've seen the temperature sensor cause hard starting and rough running
also has a similar symptom in that it starts ok when warm but becomes
hard to start when cold. Mine threw a cell code but one would imagine
that it does not need to do that to make things bad.

Here's its location:

Also check vacuum lines, etc. It could be that you have a leak
somewhere or one is pinched.

the IAC and the TPS are possible culprits. The IAC can (I THINK) be
negatively affected by throttle body cleaning if an 'approved' solvent
was not used. Can you get a code from the computer? Sometimes a bad TPS
will throw a code.

I dunno

Thanks,
I will check those things out (or will ask my mechanic to) I really
don't know much about cars...
It was also suggested to me that I have the EGR valve cleaned out, and
possibly increase the idle level, since it is idling so low.
I did have all of the vaccumm lines checked (sorry forgot to mention
that before).
Thanks
for all of your help!!
