Windshield replacemets getting ridiculous

I have a 2020 Outback with 25k miles and have replaced the windshield 4 times! I'm a very conscientious driver and don't follow close to cars or trucks. What you would consider the smallest rock that would cause a chip destroys the windshield. I had an Acura with 170k miles and never had to replace the windshield. Anyone else experience this? Fortunately, I have full coverage glass coverage but Im sure the insurance company isn't too happy.

I had the very same experience. I finally had the 4th windshield replaced with a better brand. I don't know what brand it was changed to but it was clearly better. The first three windshields cracked with any kind of small rock chip

Hasn’t changed. i bought a 2025 Forester in September and windshield is so cracked it is a shame. And they say a new one will cost $1750.00!!!

I don't understand I have an Outback 2020 Premium I don't have this issue with windshield crack nor i have to replaced the battery going to be 5 years in June no issues only issue I had a flat tire fixed by Subaru.

Subaru has acknowledged that there is a problem with certain models and production years. They have allowed people to submit their claim for reimbursement. I filed the paperwork but have not received any confirmation yet on the status.

Have 2020 Outback. Saturday at 35 mph with no 44one in front of me on a smooth residential street the windshield cracked. Drivers side, crack started at drivers eye level and traveled towards the middle before starting down. Wii contact dealer for advice and sympathy.

Hasn’t changed. i bought a 2025 Forester in September and windshield is so cracked it is a shame. And they say a new one will cost $1750.00!!!

Local Subaru dealer where I bought my 2025 Forester finally got a windshield replacement and replaced my broken. I did not pay the $1750 cost of windshield this time - good will replacement dealer told me - but did have to fork over $500.

But, if it cracks again, I will need to come up with the complete replacement cost.

From what I hear, everyone is having crappy glass problems, not just Subaru. I think it's lighter, thinner glass to save weight for the CAFE crapolla.

I never had issues like this with Honda’s. 2023 Honda CRV Hybrid has never cracked even with multiple rock chip marks.

I hear Toyota owners complaining about glass. My mechanic says everyone is having problems too. However he only does Subaru and Toyota work.
