We mainly want to carry an E-bike on a trailer hitch platform carrier but might make a dump-run once or twice per year with a small trailer. Any advice or experience - good or bad - for adding a hitch is appreciated. Plus the trailer wiring. Thanks.

U-haul is an easy place to do the job. If you want to do it yourself, there are a few inexpensive online stores to shop. Your dealer may be an expensive alternative.

I installed a hitch on my 2024 crosstrek in about 30 minutes...the Forrester is the same. Subaru makes it really simple. You can get the hitch from Curt or Amazon. Subaru also does prewiring for trailer lights. Very simple install. Youtube has great how-to videos. Hitch is around $220 and the wiring adaptor is around $35 on Amazon. The wiring is located near the spare tire tucked under a panel. The dealership wanted $900 for installation.

I would GO with U-Haul : they have over 50-years of Hitch Experience, instead of these Johney-Come-Lately-Folks who are trying to play catch up (Subaru-!) ; Curt is OK, but they build everything to Haul Semi-Loads, and you will discover that when you install their (mega-!) Hitch, and half of your Weight-Capacity disappears in their Product, leaving little for you to actually "HAUL" with ... !!!!
