Hello,
Can someone tell me if the 2024 Outback (limited) has built-in wifi capability, and if so what are the costs involved? In reading Subaru’s site it looks like wifi may be offered in two ways but it’s confusing. Thanks..
There are two different wifi channels in the 2024 outback. The first one which you refer to as Starlink) is meant to connect to your home wifi and is used mainly for maintenance firmware updates. This is a short range channel tied to your home wifi router. We should note here that Starlink itself has other portions of the service that are actually satellite based and do not rely on the short range connection to your home wifi. The second channel is a cellular service meant to connect to a mobile wifi hotspot you can subscribe to from AT&T. It will allow your passengers to use a mobile device such as a computer tablet or cellphone on the internet while on the road. This second wifi is referred to as "wifi hotspot" in the menus on the infotainment screen. Rates vary based on whether or not you are using any other AT&T services. You can get more information on setting up the wifi hotspot if you are interested on both the MySubaru and AT&T websites. If you are already an AT&T customer, the monthly rate for the hotspot is around $15.00.
