Overfilled oil level

Hi guys..I bought a new 2023 forester sport 6 months ago and noticed from day one that the oil level was above the full mark...6 months later after my first oil change at a subaru dealer, the oil level was about an inch beyond the full mark...I'm told that this amount over is only about 1/4 quart and won't hurt anything including fuel economy, which in my case is 24 combined...am I overly concerned? thanks in advance

Hi, Yes your overly concerned for sure. 1/4 over filled is nothing to worry about. 1qt or more will cause your engine to stall and not idle
