Outback 3.0R 2006 UK Sport mode and Cruise

I notice on an Outback 3.0R that if Sport mode is selected with the gear
shift the Sport indicator illuminates on the instrument panel. If however
Cruise Control is turned on the Sport indicator does not illuminate. Is
this usual on Legacy/Outback models?
