Good Sunday happy people. Recently picked up 17 crosstrek limited. 1 owner, dealer maintained up to date.
To the point, 259k miles, ($3500 spent). Will be calling dealer to get lowdown on what has been and has not been done. Hoping to get 6 months to a year out of it with no major issues, then goes in jdm drivetrain with 44k miles, (engine and tranny, under $5k)
Things I am not delusional about, timing chain replacement, a litany of various makes and years of timing belts under my belt,( see what I did there)
Able to find plenty of vids of process with engine out, not in. Would appreciate and guidance towards vids to review with engine in. Special tools needed?
Going with oem, no Chinese eBay Amazon junk. Know the parts cost.
Tranny, I am assuming that dealer has serviced tranny at least once, assuming as they same makes an a$$ out of me and you. Will assume I will be doing a fluid exchange a couple times with oem fluid. Looking at tranny filters, 2 come up, screen metal type, round “filter type. Would appreciate input on this as well.
