Neutral Inhibit Switch

Could someone please tell me how to access the neutral inhibit
switch on my car? It's an '01 Legacy wagon. The switch was replaced
under warranty last March, and by July the new one was malfunctioning
again. The dealer said 'cannot duplicate problem', and sent me home.
Now, I am having trouble getting the car out of Park, becuase of this
switch.

thanks

I believe in my 2000 Forester manual there is a "cure" for this problem. It
consisted of using a tool(from the owner tool kit) to push a lever or switch
to correct. It may be only that an adjustment is needed and not a new
switch. Does it come under the 3y/36,000 mile warranty???

It was under warranty when it failed the seconed time, but now
it's past warr. The hidden button overrides the mechanical
interlock, but it will not allow the engine to be started
as far as I know. This malfunction also prevents the engine
from starting.

I want to electrically bypass this switch, if I cannot fix it.
