My granddaughter is getting her license next month and going to college in the fall. I myself have a 97 legacy outback wagon and she's 5'9". Obviously my '97 is fine for me but I need to know of at least a mid sized Subaru that I can buy her that has good cabin space. Not sure of the $$ I can spend. But I don't want to buy her a new car or a old car. Any ideas for models? Before I had my Outback I had a Volvo 240. It lasted to 485,000 miles! But the Outback has 4WD and in NJ the streets can get bad in the winter. I hear new Legacy's are good but at what point did the Legacy get roomy enough for someone 5'9"?

Had two of those Volvo models and now the 780 Bertone with the PRV engine

Read the posts on this site and pay attention to "repair requests".
The Legacy models are quite good and should fit her stature.
4WD is the best choice in the East with all the "weather" tossed around.
We use the summers but studded winters on spare rims.
Bring her shopping and try those models.
Before thinking of a purchase, visit a trusted Technician and have it inspected front to back and if possible, request the service records.
