Apologies for not knowing all the correct techy terms. ONE day, I was playing with my voice command switch and I was able to do an internet search for things like "When did Oscar Wilde die?" or "Who sang 'Chances Are'?" A very polite male voice answered every question I had. Every other day, before and since then, I am allowed to do only recognized voice commands, like "Call Jan" after a female voice responds to me pressing the button. I have a 2022 Outback Limited and a Samsung Galazy Z Fold 4. What did I do right that one day? Thanks

Was your phone connected to usb in the car? Sounds like you were using a cellphone app via android auto and your phone. Not sure which one it would be though. Samsung Bixby has a female voice unless there is a way to change preferences. Google assistant is also a possibility, but again not sure if the voice is male or was changed.

Its kinda crazy some of these things cannot do. I have a device by my bedside (thats hooked up to the net) & there are many things that it does not recognize (understand). For example I have asked it for "The Meaning Of Life" sometimes it comes back with a very long winded reply other times it comes back with "42" which is the answer from the Douglas Adams book The Hitchikers Guide To The Galaxy which the BBC made into a really good tv series. Amazon seach engine is pretty crazy also coming back with some weird answers. I have a 05 Forester with a non OEM sound system (so I play my music from my I Pod through it by usb. I do not use my I Phone through my system, I just do not like all the pairing etc, it gets to complicated for an old dude like me. My other half has an android phone & drives a Rav 4 & the connection between her phone & the car also is not perfect by any means either, you are not alone
