Front License Plate on '04 Legacy Wagon?

G

George

2004 Subaru Legacy Wagon
How do I mount a license plate on the front?
Do I need a bracket?
If so, I hope someone can tell me the
Subaru part number for the bracket.

To reply directly to me, replace all 'z' with 'a' in email address.

There should be a bracket kit in the back in the tray over the spare tire.
That's where it was on mine.
The installation is pretty straightforward.

**** Thank you.
I am not with the car, but I need to have a frotn palte
put on it by someone else.
Some questions:
A. Was yours an '04?
B. In the tray there was a "tool" kit consisting of a reversible
screw driver (phillips/regular) and I think a wrench for (supposedly)
removing the lug nuts. That's all I remember.
C. What does it look like? How was it packaged? Was it in
a plastic bag etc.?

Thanks again for your help so far.

I just looked at my 04 Outback and the dealer has simply used a frame
and drilled self tapping screws into the bumper.
Since it is already done I think I'll leave it alone but I hope you find
a better way.
There isn't any bracket in the tire wll either.

Good Luck

*** This doesn't seem very elegant to me.
I hope someone can tell me how Subaru meant this to be done.

Thanks.

My '02 has two dimples on the front bumper where you are supposed to put
the self-tapping screws. I believe that is what is noted in the owner's
manual, as well. Might want to ask the dealer what the maximum length
is, if not denoted in your manual.
