Forester: Tire questions

You might also look into the Green Diamond Tire at www.GreenDiamondTire.com
.. A number of Subaru owners have extremely positive experience with these
tires. The tread compound has silicon carbide particles embedded throughout
the tread to bite into snowpack and ice.

Disclaimer: Yes- I have a financial interest in the product... Yes- they
are a remanufactured tire... Yes- they are exceptional in their winter
traction, beating out Blizzaks and Alpins by a wide margin in independent
scientific testing.

NOW you tell me! <g> I just had the ContiExtremeContact tires installed
today. The original Geolanders nearly made to 19.5K. During the flooding
that we had from the remnants of hurricane Jean, the old tires had me
petrified, due to the slipping & some sliding on the PA Turnpike.

Niels,

Sorry about not having been more timely <g>. Before discovering the Green
Diamond Tire, my favorite tire had always been the ContiContact. Years ago,
they made a very aggressive snow thread with a soft compound that they
marketed as 'ThermoGummi" they were fantastic! Enjoy your new tires, still
a good choice... next time you might remember to think GDT also, we will be
around for the long haul. :)

There's an article on truck/SUV tires in the new Consumer Report issue I
just received. Specific brands recommended for different kinds of driving,
preferences.

Hal,

Is that article also online at the Consumer Reports website? I just checked
and their articles regarding tires seem somewhat dated... here is the CR
index for tires that I found:

Performance tires (H- & Z -rated) 11/03
SUV and car tires 11/01
Tire-pressure gauges 5/02
Tire-pressure monitoring systems 11/03
Winter and all-season tires 11/02

I would be curious to learn if the the magazine's SUV and car tires article
has reference to Green Diamond Tire... the above reference, dated 11/01,
surely would not.

Kind regards to all,

Rich Gostenik
