FORESTER BATTERY

I've been wondering about the health of the battery in my wife's 2002
Outback sport. Water levels get checked every oil change and that's
about it. So I was glad to learn of battery longevity in your Forester.

I should mention that, in addition to having been bought in 1998, not
'88, the car has always been garaged so the battery never experienced
extremes of temperature. On the other hand, it's had the worst kind of
service, lots of short trips: after 10 years the car has less than 45,000
miles on it (including one round trip from Virginia to Utah and
back---6,000 miles right there). Owned by a little old lady who only
drove it to the Safeway and back.

Yes: I just changed the oil in the Impreza Outback and as per habit,
checked fluid levels including the battery. All seems well and judging
from your experience, now looking forward to eking out a few more years.
