Hello Subaru owners. I have a 2015 Crosstrek and need front CV axles. I'm seeing the price for OEM at $650 to $830 for the pair. Aftermarket at in the $200 range. Does anyone have any thoughts?

My wife has a 2016 Crosstrek and when we bought it used from a local Subaru dealer at 110,00 miles the left front cv axle had been replaced. I thought that strange as most cv axles last much longer before the rubber boots give out and the axle needs replacing. After about a year I noticed a cv joint noise in the right front axle while turning. I put the car up on my rack in my garage and did not see anything wrong with the rubber boots. They were intact. I went the local Subaru dealer service dept. and asked them if they typically have problems with their cv joints/axles with the rubber boots intact and they said yes! I got a new cv joint from our local O'Reilly's auto parts for about $150 with a limited lifetime warranty. I recommend you go to O'Reilly's or AutoZone and get a new axle there.
