I think subaride CDN has a heavy foot :)

The question is whether there is any harm in running the engine up
until the rev limiter cuts in, and then shifting ?

dunno... I suppose they'd set the rev-limiter to below harmful levels...
then again, maybe not.
mostly, however, you pass your peak power well before then, so there is
really no point to going past the ideal power peak. I know from experience
that the engine loses its oomph before redline -- you can clearly feel it.

I second that emotion!
No harm in itself (unless you've reset the rev limiter to a higher limit
than intended anyway) *but* probably not recommended for long component
life or low service bills if done all the time. Not really much point
going over 5800 - 6200 in most circumstances unless you're heavily into
dragging off everything that moves and changing your cars more frequently.
Cheers

ok guys sorry for my english writing but... i dont have a heavy foot i did
have a propleme whit the limiter swich....no it's ok it was cuting the
engine at 5900 rpm
