Power cut on hi-torque acceleration

Hi All,

I'm in Europe, have a diesel 2011 Impreza, has about 90'000 miles on it. Runs fine except for this power cut problem. Detailed symptoms:
  • When I demand for moderate to hard acceleration, RPM rises but power abruptly cuts between 1700 and 2200 RPM
  • The gas pedal is dead from that moment on
  • Ignition is still going, though, because:
  • As soon as RPM returns to 1000 (either because I coast and let the engine brake the car down to there, or because I disengage the clutch), the gas pedal is live again
  • It doesn't happen if I keep shy on the gas (i.e. not require much torque)
  • To describe it another way, it feels like it cuts when the turbo is supposed to rev up
  • Never happens in 1st gear
  • Can't make this happens in neutral

About timing:
  • Doesn't happen when car is start-cold
  • Happens after a minute or two after engine start
  • Disappears after 10-15 minutes of normal driving

Any idea what this could come from?
