Cold weather: Sedan owners beware!!

I assume, if you have the cabin filter option, that they also checked
those for clogging? I think the manual advises changing them yearly.

I don't have a cabin filter.

Our Impreza (OBS) has that, and I took it out last winter for maximum
flow. Thanks for reminding me.

FWIW, I've been pretty impressed with the heater in this car. The engine
gets up to operating temp the fastest of any we've had, and once all the
metal and plastic gets thawed, it's a pretty cozy place to be, even on
that windswept barren stretch of highway to Fargo.

Gee "a lockable handgun storage compartment" - handy when you need to get
even with the motorist who just swerved in front of you. Get a life!

Gee, take it easy. Out of the entire post, and my entire well-rounded
wish list, that was the only thing warranting a reaction?

I stand by my suggestion.

Lots of decent people in rural areas have guns with them, perfectly
legally. It's just a fact -- regardless of how anybody else *feels*
about it, it's still a fact. A safe, invisible place to stow it would be
a good thing.

I wouldn't trust the lock on the plastic glovebox with a gun. See? Gun
owners are concerned with safety and discretion.

I'm thinking something set into the floor, maybe stamped right into the
sheet metal, under the front passenger's floor mat. It could have a
hinged steel lid and a remote release hidden somewhere else, like the
cas cap does. A neat insert into the carpet, like the spare tire well in
the back. Hey: the more I flesh out this idea, the more I like it.

It could be sold as a "hidden valuables compartment" -- so Subaru could
avoid further ire from the same people who are trying to crucify them
about reclassifying passenger cars as evil "SUV"s...
