So I have two belt issues, with a 2005 Subaru Forester 2.5x 4 cylinder. The first is the AC belt won't stay on. And looking beneath, the tensioner adjuster idler pulley clearly does not line up properly with the crank pulley. The belt stretches across that gap at a lateral angle of about 5-10 degrees id guesstimate. So my first questions are:
1. What could have caused that?
2. Would simply putting a washer under the idler pulley arm to get the lineup visibly correct work as a fix?
My second issue is a wobbly crank pulley at idle. I guess my questions are:
1. Again, possible causes?
2. Fixable myself without taking the entire engine block out and apart?
