What's with the drop of 1 MPG across the Outback line for 2023?

Is it the aerodynamics of the new front fascia?
Is it a simple rounding error or change in the way the EPA tests?
Or is it Subaru responding to owners disparaging the tuning of the CVT and the 2023 will drive better?

Anyone know?

I am no aerodynamic expert but I think it may be a combination of 2023 front changes: increased drag from the new black cladding across both front fenders, changes to the fog lights from vertical rectangular to rounded shape, the new bulbous highlight lenses not being as flush and slightly increased airflow drag from the size and shape of the new grille (perhaps unlikely, but could be). I am awaiting delivery of a new 2023 Outback XT Touring in latter October so I'll see first hand soon enough.
