Low beam HID headlight on my 2015 Outback 3.6 burned out - I went to replace it and the hold-down spring on the base socket would not catch on the hold-down tabs. I've changed it before with no problem. So, I tried over and over and both tabs broke! Yes, I was using the correct replacement bulb.
Now I find that I cannot just replace the socket - I have to replace the entire headlight assembly unit. $840 - from Subaru dealer. How can this be?!
Question: do I really have to replace the entire assembly and remove most of the black front trim in doing so?
Appreciate any suggestions from you intelligent (more than me) folks!
