I bought a 2014 Outback for my wife. On the dash it shows 6 gears when you use the paddle shift. So I assumed I had a 6 speed automatic/manual. But I am trying to find how to see how much trans fluid is in the transmission. We were on a couple of hour long trip last week and kept getting an trans oil over temp light. (I was pushing fairly hard as we needed to get there sooner than later) we have another trip (12 hours this time) in a couple of weeks and I am trying to get all the fluids checked out. I put my vin into Subaru parts dot com and it came back saying I have a CVT trans. Is that correct? It feels like it shifts and the rpm drops when it does. A cvt trans would not do that correct? So what trans do I actually have?
