This started in January. Each time going from stop to around 30 MPH the RPMs would drop sharply for a split second causing a stutter.
Went to the internet, told me the problem was a dirty MAF. Cleaned MAF, problem vanished.
About 2 week later problem came back, cleaned MAF, problem went away. 2 weeks later problem came back.
Went back to internet. Said PCV value could be stuck leaking oily air, making the MAF dirty. Internet said to shake the old PCV and if it doesn't rattle it is stuck open. Sure enough, PCV didn't rattle. Got new part, installed it, cleaned MAF. Problem didn't go away totally.
The first 3-4 times I get to 30 MPH, no stutter at all, perfectly smooth. After that the stutter returns for the remainder of the trip.
Go to junkyard, get OEM part from an car (even though it is about 15 years old). Clean MAF, install it, same thing, 3-4 times to 30, works fine, then stutter.
Bite the bullet and buy new MAF, install it, same thing 3-4 times good, after that stutter.
Any ideas?
