2010 Legacy GT Ltd-Rotatinal noise from dashboard areq

Heater/a/c fan not on. I can hear a rotational noise, sublety from the dash when I turn the key off for about 12 seconds and then it stops. My mechanic has no idea since the fan is the only possible source of a rotational noise. Thanks
