2002 obw - brakes 'click'

Hi - when I apply the brakes when the car is in motion, there is often
but not always a clicking sound - I can feel it through the brake pedal.
This does not occur when the car is stationary.

I took the car in for another issue (chirping flywheel/clutch),
and the service manager asked if the symptoms sounded like this
click. They didn't, but he went on to say that if that was it, it's
normal as the brake pads move around, and this is normal for most cars.

I don't buy this explanation as it hasn't happened in any other car I've
owned (including another subaru) and it has only developed recently.

Has anyone else experienced this sound and if so, what caused it?

Had the same thing with My Forester. Turns out that the brake pads are
moving about 0.010" inch in the calipers. No problem and yes it's
normal. ed

Esp normal in most disk brake cars when you brake during reverse and
then shift to forward motion. The 1st time you press the brakes you'll
likely feel the pads and/or caliper shift around.

this is only normal in cheap cars and if you put up with it you are the one
who is loosing out.

My 750 bmw that sells for about 60,000 dollars was the worst car I
ever had in this respect but then BMW are at the bottom of the
reliability pile according to owners reports.
