2002 forester play in cv axle

I have a 2002 subaru forester which is having front end noise that follows vehicle speed. I know the normal diagnosis is the wheel bearing but from what I can find my wheel bearing has no play. I suspect it might be play in this front right CV axle. Is this amount of play a concern? I uploaded a video showing play in the right vs the left.

that seems excessive to me i would get that replaced

You have to give it a good whack when you install them. I'm wondering, is it possible they were never put in all the way. Probably a stupid thought, the car probably wouldn't drive. Also, do you off road or drive in New England, per chance?
