2001 Legacy Parts and Installation Help Needed

My wife has a 2001 Legacy Sedan L. In order to help her see better at
night, I decided I would get her some fog lights for her birthday. The
Subaru dealership indicated they don't have fog lights for this model. I
did a web search and it appears they do. Is it that they just don't make
them anymore?

I have two questions.... what are good locations or sites to get parts,
especially fog lights? The second question, what are the steps to install
the fog lights (is the wiring and everything already in place so it is just
a matter of plugging things in)?

Thanks for help and direction!

Very unlikely the circuit is there. I installed fogs on a 95 model
recently. Just installed a 4-terminal relay by one of the headlights
and triggered it by splicing into one of the side marker lights. I could
have also installed a toggle switch somewhere inside the car to break the
circuit to the relay switch but decided that was more trouble than I
needed. Going this route means the fog lights are always on, even in the
parking light mode.

This may not answer your question, but I think the best thing is to
bring the car to a specialty shop. Just yesterday, I was at an
alarm/audio shop. They say they can put some nice driving lights on my
2000 Legacy L wagon for between $250 and $400, labor included.

And I recommend driving lights, not fog lights. Fog lights are useful
mostly for searching for your contact lenses on the curb while you're
driving. ;-)
