04 OBW LLBean - 2 Problems

A

Alan

1. Minor problem - The radio is sometimes dead. No lights at all. There are
6 CDs in the unit, so there are supposed to be 6 little indicators on, but
nothing. Can't turn the radio on. OnStar won't work either. I fix this
problem by pressing the CD eject button, or re-starting the car (reboots?).
The unit comes to life and all is fine. Any ideas? ( I will probably go to
the dealer and get it replaced unless someone tells me this is normal.

2. May be a problem, maybe not. My wife and I both started noticing that the
AT _sometimes_ shifts a bit rough from 2nd to 3rd. Car has about 18,000
miles. Been going this since maybe 15K. May have been doing it all along and
we just started noticing... Anyone else notice rough shifting btw 2 & 3? No
other symptoms.

Got warranty?

Car was at the dealer today. When I made the appointment, they said they
would need the car all day. I called SOA, and they confirmed this, saying
that the dealer would need to replicate the problem (with the radio). Of
course, I knew there was no way this would happen, as the problem occurred
only twice in 18,000 miles. I was now worried that the radio would never get
fixed. Anyway, to make a long story short, SOA offered to pay for a rental
car for the day. I accepted. Got the car back, and a new radio is on order,
they test drove the car with some test gear connected to it to analyze the
transmission shifting (all was normal), and they replaced the pin that holds
the driver's floor mat with a newly-redesigned one (has a larger washer
underneat to keep it from coming out of the carpet.

All in all, a happy experience.
