Seatbelt chime (again) - '06 OBW

Sorry to bring this topic up again, but for the life of me I can't figure
out what I'm missing. Back when I first got the car, I eventually disabled
the annoying seatbelt chime using the instructions I found via this
newsgroup. The car went into the body shop awhile ago and because the
battery was disconnected, the chime is back on. I've tried the same
procedure but seem to only be able to temporarily shut it off. The next
day, the chime is always back on.

Here's what I've done - turn key to on position, fasten and unfasten
driver's seatbelt 20 times in 30 seconds, turn key to off position. I've
also started the car following the 20 seatbelt clicks as well. Nothing
seems to keep the chime off permanently. What am I missing?

Thanks for any help.

I THINK the temporary setting was 3 'B-unB' cycles in 6 seconds. So it
seems as if you aren't getting enough of the B-unB accomplished in the
30 seconds. It doesn't hurt to do more - so try to get 25 done in the
time period.

it's been a long time since we covered that!

let us know how it works

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm still not sure what the heck I have been
doing wrong. I've been periodically trying to get the chime turned off for
some time now. However, tonight I had someone time me and I got 30 B-unB
cycles within 30 seconds before heading out to a b-ball game this evening.
(So I'm pretty sure not beating the clock wasn't the problem.) The chime
was still disabled when we started the car after the game, so I'm hopeful
that I finally got it right. However, I half-expect to follow up this post
with a 'damn it' post after I get in the car at some point tomorrow. We'll
see, but for now I'm calling mission accomplished.

Well, damnit is the follow-up post after all. Car was back to chiming with
seatbelts unbuckled today. This is ridiculous.
