through the wonders of the internet, i have a copy of the instructions
for the 2000 model year legacy (hvac) air filter kit. but some of the
details don't seem to exactly fit my '02 legacy (special edition
wagon). for example, the part about pressing in the sides of the
glove box until the "knock pins" release doesn't seem to work, at least
up to the point where i would expect the plastic to start breaking.
(the old story: "if it jams, force it, and if it breaks, it probably
needed replacing anyway...") and i'm not overly eager to "improvise" so
close to one of the airbags.
i checked in the owner's manual, and it recommends replacing the
filters every year or 15,000 km, so it would be time to change them,
if they're in there. but the silly manual gives no instructions on how
to do that, or even how to check them, except "see your dealer".
