Hello,
I recently purchased an 82 Brat (4wd manual), fulfilling a dream I've had forever. My high school car was a 1980 Subaru DL wagon (2wd automatic) that i painted yellow with black racing stripes to make fun of my hot rod friends who had those types of paint jobs. I also had a 92 loyale that was just a phenomenal vehicle for me.
I bought my brat for $300 because the previous owner had had enough of its quirks and replaced it with a side by side for his ranching operation. I replaced the clutch cable, plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, air filter, fuel filter, and oil, and the thing is running pretty solid!
However, it has an interesting challenge: I can't get it into reverse. It seems like perhaps the shifter won't pull all the way the right in order to get to reverse or fifth (I assume its 5 speed but the shifter knob is an 8 ball so I can't see the shift diagram!).
I'm wondering if anybody on here has had a similar issue in this generation of brat? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I've been unable to find this specific issue in web searches.
Thanks
