Regular gas in 2007 Forester 2.5 XT?

B

Bill Bradley

The Consumer Reports article for July, 2006, states "regular" for the
Forester 2.5 XT fuel requirement.

Is this correct? Thought it had to be 91 octane Premium?

Thanks.

definitely needs 91 octane except for an absolute emergency. Consumers
reports often list the info for the base version even when they test
the HO version. I did not read the article though and am surprised
they made such a mistake as premium is usual listed as a con or
negative.

ALL the SUV's tested stated "regular", mentioned right in the pages of the
report, but, not in the individual specifications.

I went to a dealer, to get the 2007 Forester booklet, but, they didn't have
one, so, I downloaded and printed it from Subaru.com, and, it states 87
octane for all but the XT, and, 91 octane for the XT.

I'm in Colorado, and, while 85 IS regular, neither 87 nor 91 are, and, I
smell something fishy.

Will write CR and see what they say...

Huh? What's fishy? All of Subaru's turbos run on premium. CR made a mistake.

Um, and where have you come across a 2007 Forester? Here in Canada they
haven't even been announced!

Salesman told me yesterday that the '07s would be out on Sept 15th. I
assume he means all models.
