Recommended independent Subaru mechanics in Raleigh, NC area?

Hi:

I'm considering buying a late model or new Subaru, probably a Legacy
wagon or Legacy Outback wagon. Probably a 4-cylinder engine, non-turbo
model.

While I'm considering this, can anyone recommend an independent Subaru
mechanic or repair shop in the Cary or Raleigh, NC area?

I don't know anything about the Subaru mechanics at the local Subaru
dealers. I assume that their service will be expensive, like service is
at most car dealers. If I'm wrong

They're not in Cary or Raleigh, but WASP Automotive in RTP (near the
corner of Hwy 54 and 55) is a great shop. They work on all Japanese
makes except Nissans (the owner hates them). It's a very clean shop
and they do really top notch work with very reasonable prices. You'll
work directly with the mechanic throughout the process and all the ones
I've worked with have been very knowledgable and courteous. They also
have a nice (and fairly informal) shuttle service.

I second the recommendation for Wasp ( http://waspautomotive.com/ ). I
haven't yet needed to take in my 2005 Forester for service, but will be
taking it to them in a few months for the 30,000 mile service. I had
them work on my previous vehicle (a Toyota). They are very helpful and
very fair and do excellent work.
