rear seat bars?

I've recently removed the rear seats from my 2003 bugeye and I noticed this huge bar going the full length of the seat underneath, I also noticed two vertical black bars behind where the back rest would be, do either of these actually help chassis stiffens or should I just remove them for weight reduction? thanks.

Remove them they're just there for the seat to stay stable
