Legacy vs. Outback Driver Side Legroom?

Hello, All!

I just found out yesterday when I went to my dealer to test drive a new Legacy that it was going to be discontinued. Sad...

Well, for various reasons-- including getting older-- I'm beginning not to like the handling of my 2020 Forester Touring and am interested in moving to something with less "sail area" and looser steering, most likely a sedan. We have a 2014 Outback, too, which I like but miss the bells and whistles we didn't buy back then, particularly a backup camera and blind spot monitors with EyeSight.

Anyway, I like the Legacy quite a bit, probably because it seems to be the sedan version of the Outback. The fact that it will be discontinued next year doesn't bother me much since parts will be available probably as long as I'm still driving!

But I do have a question for y'all. I have knee issues and the driver side legroom is very important to me for longer day drives (200 to 400-ish miles). According to the specs, both the Legacy and Outback have exactly the same front legroom (and so the dealer claimed), but when I sat in both I'd swear the Legacy had just *slightly* less on the driver side. With both seats all the way down and back, when I stretch out my left leg I can completely straighten it in the Outback but have to bend my knee just *slightly* in the Legacy. It's just enought to *maybe* be a deal breaker for me.

The dealer said I was hallucinating, but I don't think so. Can anyone tell me whether I am, or if the difference (probably an inch or less) is real? Thank you in advance! -Eric

(Oh, obviously my other option is an Outback, but I'd rather have a sedan and let my wife get a new(er) Outback.)
