OK, today I took the H6 to resolve the screeching problem from the drive
belt. To reiterate, the sound would disappear upon application of a belt
dressing but would reappear the next AM.
I got the oil changed while there. They troubleshot the screeching belt
and replaced it under warranty. I was there for 35 minutes. I was
impressed. The dealer is Norwood Subaru in Massachusetts. They said the
belt was defective; they said it was glazed.
Now I'm surprised the belt was glazed after only 12300 miles. And it was
not loose as the H6 uses an automatic belt tensioner.
