Forester wheel up sizing in width

I have a Forester with factory rims of 18 X 7. I have a set of rims 18 X 8 from my wrecked Ascent and want to know if they will work on the Forester for snow tires.

You need to find out what the offset of both wheels are, offset is what either brings the wheel closer or further to the hub, lower numbers such as 35 offset push the wheel further away so as higher offsets such as 55 offset bring it closer. Putting a wheel with a high offset may create issues with the wheel rubbing on your brake caliper. As for the difference from 7-8, that doesn't really matter as much as offset.

If you don't know the offset, you can find it stamped on the back of the said wheels or do a google search of the rim and most website's which sell them will list the offsets. Hope this helps
