ok. tried to bleed my radiator by myself tonight which almost resulted
in a castastrophic overheating of the engine. i had car on hill,
radiator cap off, bleed valve off, and ran car at 3000 rpm. needless to
say there was a lot of fluid spewing everywhere.

1. i dislocated my arm while trying to do the job (i'm fine)

2. i'm taking the car to the local shop tomorrow to have the radiator
flushed.

3. i'm drained.

..... to be continued

PS: all this started when i heard water coming from behind the dash.
car still runs with no problems though. i'm just trying to keep it that
way.

Why were you running th engine to drain the radiator? My practice is to
disconnect the ignition coil wire and crank the engine a few turns to
push the water out. With the coil wire off, the engine will just turn
and not overheat.

That sloshing sound could be caused by a clogged drain hose that usually
dumps behind the passenger-side front wheel.

Likely he'll find he has a blown HG. Too bad as he seems VERY
frustrated with his car. If it IS the HG. After its repaired he could
get another 200K outta the vehicle with few problems.
Subaru really shot themselves in the foot with the HG problem.
