dashboard light out

The green light illuminating the mileage on my '04 OBW has burned out.
Other dashboard lights work and it's not a fuse problem. How can I fix
this myself?

I replaced several dash lights on my 2003 OBS a few months ago. It
wasn't too difficult. A couple of screws under the overhang of the
dash (above the gauges) and one or two above the steering column and a
bit of fancy manoeuvering and the dash piece came out. Then some more
contorsions to get the console out far enough to unplug all the
wires. The bulbs come out with a twist.

Getting replacements was a little tricky. The plastic bases that
secure the bulbs to the console are just bases, they're not part of
the bulb. But most car parts places seemed afraid of them. Finally,
I realized that you can pull the bulbs right out of the bases and
replace the bulbs.

Now, about 3 months later, at least two bulbs have burnt out again.
Either the bulbs were really cheap, or the voltage is too high (not
likely), or they weren't the right bulbs.

I'd be interested in what you find out.

Hmmmm....you might try a search that includes "radio shack" as I recall
they can order a bulb that works well for a replacement on Soobs.
