Baja Bed Cover? Best Price?

Looking for an online dealer to order a bed cover for a 2003 Baja. Are
there any good deals out there or am I stuck ordering from the dealer?
Plus it seems to be that the OEM soft cover is a bit overpriced and
I've heard it's 'fidgety' - any other options besides the hard
'snugtop' cover, which is a bit out of my price range?

Needs to be user installable if possible since it's intended to be an
Xmas present.

I ordered the flexable model with my '03 Baja. Stupid decision because
I actually use the Baja to take about 20 bags of pine needles to the dump
each fall. I wasn't able to get the flexable model off (inept?) and had
to have the dealer remove it. It looks good, but if you only fold it back
there's only access to about half the bed unless things are below the bed
sides. That doesn't cut it when I get up to 8 each 50 gallon trash bags
in the bed. I believe the cost was $300! ;-(

FWIW just found NONE listed on E-Bay.

I have the flexible one, by choice I might add. The hard covers are nice
and provide more security but you are also limited in carrying tall loads.
The flexi job allows me to get the benefits of weather protection for the
groceries and, I guess, better mileage. The fixed portion actually only
extends about a foot from the rear window and hasn't been a problem so far.
For bigger loads I got the bed extender and with the tailgate lowered this
has been OK

I think the bed cover has been discontinued and there's no aftermarket tonneau for the Baja.

how about a tonneau hard cover/ Are they any better? Do they leak?
I have one that has started to leak. I purchased this from a guy in Spokane washington who went fishing in brine tho also evidenced by my ball hitch pretty much welded on- no-one can get the thing out. I have a lot of leakage in wet months. It leaks behind passenger side at the hinge between the two adjoining pieces has separated probably due to weather. It has stood up remarkably tho- almost hard to believe it’s vinyl. I carry stuff on top all the time and it’s never left a mark. This has never been garaged as far as I know - it’s a 2003
The locking mechanism broke long ago so it is not secure.
I want a canopy but can not afford a new one and no one sells them. They hang on to them. It is also said that this cover fits behind the front seats to open up a bigger cargo area in back through the door behind the back seats. I really don’t like it that way but I can not imagine leaving it open. I love the trunk /truck bed and I am mostly adding this post for people like myself who buy older Subaru models and are just learning - these forums are the best place to learn.
