Anyone try using a 3rd Party Infotainment system?

I have the dreaded Outback Lamination issue and am out of warranty. I can't stomach paying $2,200 for a part that doesn't work and is on a 4 month backorder. Has anyone tried using a different system? I suppose you won't get the diagnostics, and the annoying alerts, which are mostly useless, but can you get the 3 three essentials back (ApplePlay, Navigation, and Backup Camera?

No answer? The one upgrade on any new car of mine is the sound and I don't want to lose my backup camera. Crutchfield is telling me there are no options, more searching I am finding some manual hacks but I was hoping to find a plug-in solution.
