My Crosstrek has a mechanical lever for it's parking brake rather than electronic parking brake. Can I just change the pads if the rotors are ok and ignore references I've seen to needing a OBD reader to change the pads?

Are there separate drum brakes for parking when the vehicle has a lever actuated parking brake?
Thanks in advance for any replys.

If the rotors are still within the spec for thickness then swapping the pads should be fine, just drive easy for the first 500 miles so the bed in properly to the older rotors.

You don't have to do anything special with regard to the parking brake other than be sure it's not engaged when doing the job. If you're not changing the rotors it does not matter what style they are.
