Anybody considering buying a Subaru beware
We have a 2016 outback with 108,000 highway miles
We had a service contract and met every service date including having $700 worth of work done before the oil light came on
We were handed a repair bill for $6000, yes six thousand dollars, when the salesman told us these cars go 200,000-250,000 miles easy on routine maintenance
Subaru has really come down a lot
They are on par or below Kia or Hyundai for reliability
If you are considering used avoid at all costs
If you buy new negotiate 6000 of your final price and put it in the bank
In the outback section covering 2016 models I posted some stories of Subaru dealerships and all the accusations of charging for work not needed and not performed
My wife is a nurse who drives 35 miles on unlit highway to work
We are screwed and Subaru pretty much laughed at us
Folks they have fallen hard and fast and their business practices are horrible
I have driven and owned subarus for twenty years and always hated the dealership practices but the cars were good enough to put up with the lies
Your product no longer has any standards so Subaru does not get any more good will
Honestly, it seems like Toyota is trying to kill off the brand
Seriously
If you are considering buying either negotiate failed engines and transmissions into your final price or if buying used avoid them period
I have to tell friends I recommended the cars to to get rid of them or bring them to Subaru and start raising he'll
My wife who is a nurse has no way to get to work and we cannot afford 6000 dollars
This is corporate America at its finest
$40,000 piece of scrap metal in our driveway
Think we can get $200 for it
