The battery in my 2019 Subaru Outback completely drained overnight, requiring me to use the emergency key to open the door and emergency cables from another vehicle to restart my Subaru. When I took the Subaru to my local garage, they found nothing wrong with the battery or car. No lights had been left on, and no doors had been left open. The battery has now been recharged and runs fine, but I am extremely worried that the same thing may happen again, leaving me or my wife stranded in some dangerous area. The mechanic at my garage said that he had heard of similar problems where connections for satellite radio (Sirius) sometimes caused similar problems and required a replacement "module."

FWIW I carried a set of jumper cables just in case something like that happend to me but then found these jump start battery packs in case no other vehicle is handy for a regular jump start. Now I have both in my car. Both belt and suspenders.

Back in 2016 , I had dozens ( !!!!! ) of Dead-Battery occurrences with my NEW Subaru FB25i System: turned out to be The "Algorithm" that Subaru had programmed into the ECM , which deliberately left the battery Un-Charged for up to a Half Hour &/or 30-Miles of driving !!! This resulted in the battery being in a VERY LOW State-Of-Charge , and ALSO in the Battery becoming HIGHLY Sulphated on the Plates .... !

For more actual Science , visit (google) WWW.BatteryUniversity.Com ; Your Battery should always be charged with an Alternator that is putting out about 14.5-Volts ; and it should be doing this almost instantly After You START the Vehicle ; if not , your Alternator is probably PROGRAMMED to use the old (supposedly DISCONTINUED !) Subaru (13.8-Volt) Algorithm.

If your Battery has lived under this mis-management for any length of Time , it will need to be Properly De-Sulphated by someone who KNOWS exactly what that Means ; in other words ... NOT YOUR SUBARU SYSTEM PEOPLE ... ! Your other, meaningful recourse, is to go to WalMart, and Purchase the Proper Group-34 , MAXX , 900-CCA Battery ; this allows you to put-up with poor charging Algorithms, and still start your Vehicle for up to a week ; during that time you will hopefully manage to follow their NoN-EPA-APPROVED Advise ... go drive it for Hours , for no other purpose but to properly Charge the Lawn-Mower-Battery that is OEM-Subaru-Approved !!!!!

QUESTION : When you used those Jumper-Cables , where did you place your Negative Jumper Clamp ???

As the Negative Bat Term is NOT recommended (safety) by any and ALL Automotive Experts , it is usually very difficult for first-timers to locate a Good-Ground away from the Battery : when I did mine, I used the Iron-Bar that holds the Lift-Up Safety-Shield for the Serpentine Belt.
Just Lift-It-Up , and Swing-Out-Of-The-Way : there is your BEST Ground in the World ... right next to the Alternator , which is THE TRUE NEGATIVE POINT in all Vehicles !!!
All other "grounds" are only connected via a couple (1-2) Spot-Welds (everything else is held-together with Hot-J.B.Weld EPOXY!
That is what those 10-20-30-foot long Worm-Turds are that are visible all over every Subaru Vehicle .... !!!!

The VERY LAST place you want to try to use as a GROUND , is (1) anywhere near the ECM (Computer) (Right Side of Engine Bay) , nor (2) anywhere near the Under-Hood Fuse Box (Left Side of Engine Bay), third down the list, is (3) anywhere near the Transmission (Behind the Engine) ! This leaves the Very-Accessible Iron-Bar (Very Front Of Engine) a Total-Winner !
