Hi,
This is the first Subaru I've personally owned or used for awhile.
On others i.e. 2018 outback and 2016 Forester (both 4cyl w/CVT) and 100k ish miles, both had a 1-2sec rattle from the tensioner getting pressurized, and that wasn't on every start.
I have a new-to-me 2014 Legacy 4cyl w/CVT, every start after it's been sitting for 1hr has 2 to 3 sec of rattle.
0w20, 5w20, 0w-30 really didn't make much of a different for startup timing chain tensioner rattle
All the filters I've used have ADBV's (Mobil One, Purolator Boss, Wix, and Subi 15208aa130) don't change this
I did notice if removing the oil filter immediately after shutting off the engine (like 10sec or less) the oil port feeding the filter drains rather quickly, like 5 or 10sec it drained down an inch down to the passage left turn .
Has anyone else noticed this? Normally when I pull the filter it's many many minutes after shutting off the engine.
On the industrial side a torchoidal pump of similar size can hold the oil above it for days and days.
The only other vehicle I had where the ports are clearly seen was the Honda CX500 motorcycle, which took hours for the oil to drain back thru the pump after taking the filter off.
I'm just worried I have a worn pump or a passage O-ring is leaking
Thanks
