Hi everyone,
I'm looking for some advice regarding replacing the catalytic converter in my 2015 Forester 2.5L (177 hp, PZEV).
A few months ago, at around 160,000 km, the head gasket failed, and before that happened, it had already damaged the catalytic converter.
The entire engine was replaced with a nearly new one as I want to keep her for a while. After the engine swap and replacing both O2 sensors, it turned out that the catalytic converter was almost completely clogged, so it had to be gutted just so I could keep driving the car.
Now I'd like to weld in a replacement catalytic converter core to finish the repair properly and get rid of the loud, hollow exhaust sound.
Does anyone know the dimensions/specifications of the catalytic converter core I need?
I've been calling around and reading so much that I'm getting a bit confused, but as far as I understand, I need a 110 mm × 100 mm core, preferably with a stainless steel housing since the car runs on LPG to ensure its reliability.
Purchasing a complete OEM integrated catalytic converter isn't financially realistic—the engine replacement has already doubled what I've invested in the car and completely drained my budget.
