Lets start with the FULL story. Got the car in December, ran fine, very fine as it probably the best car I've ever owned fine. 228k miles. About 2 weeks in suddenly exhaust leak by the cat, I get it welded, its fine. It always had a ticking sound I figured it was the lifters, but then at 230k BAM sudden severe loss of power and barely limped it to a shop. Shop owner was experienced and immediately realized it was timing related, so he did the belt, plugs, and "wires." There really aren't wires because its a coil right on the plug but, whatever, the oem harness remained. After doing a timing belt and spark plugs the car ran fine for 2 months, probably the tensioner gave way but they didn't think it jumped time. So about 2 months later at idle I began getting a bump in the rpm, and the car rocks like a misfire. No cel flash. It stopped when you were on the gas so I didn't think much of it but another month or so later it progressed worse, to it accelerating like digitally and struggling, severe shaking at idle. It's rather intermittent 50/50 when you come to a stop if its going to idle smooth or not same with accell. Then the flashing check engine finally came. So I changed the COIL with a DENZO from partsgeek. That did not work. Same thing. Ok great its a bad plug or a fake coil. I take it back to shop they said it had a broken plug, great, fixed no cost and that lasted 4 days. 4 days later it began the exact misfiring again, cyl 1. So I decided to put all new plugs again because I called them to see what they used "NGK G power" well those are N/A plugs!! WTH so I pulled them and sure enough the plugs were not done. The back two were Denzo, and the front two were NGK but on cyl 1 it was not a G power but a much shorter plug in thread length, completely the incorrect plug. So I figured great I found the problem, I put all 4 NGK Laser Iridium ILFR6B (it's completely stock car) and it did not solve it. Now misfire on 1 and a stored code for 4, hoping irrelevant.
I have been through my absolute wits end. I'm ready to set it on fire. Do I need an engine? Is a valve gone? I haven't swapped injectors around to see if the code follows, is that were I am next? It seems irrelevant of the plugs or coil. I put the coil that was on there back on there to rule out a fake denzo coil, same issue. I cleaned the sensor grounds on top of the intake for the sensors also, to no avail. I'm reluctant to take it to the one shop in my small town again. It also did need a cam sensor, it was stalling while driving, they said they fixed that probably with a doorman part, which did stop working as well weeks later, so I put two new Mitsubishi branded ones in oem part number.
The car is absolutely drinking fuel, more than it did, so I'd be hard pressed to think it's an injector because they're squirtin some gas. I'm so tired boss. Please tell me what to do next.
