Removing Dash Subaru Impreza 1999 AWD Sedan

I need to attach an auxiliary cable to the back of my after-market
Blaupunkt stereo in my 1999 Impreza Sedan. I would appreciate any tips
on how to remove any necessary parts (dash, etc) to get access to the
stereo.

I've already removed the glove compartment, that was quite easy (about
5 screws). I did this because it gives me more access in the rear.
But is it necessary?

Any tips on where to start and how to proceed would be greatly
appreciated.

Not too sure about your model but the usual place to start looking for
screws to release the dash on a subaru is the cupholder and the back of
the ashtray.

I've seen this suggestion in the past, but my cupholder is the kind
that slides out near the top of the dash. I need to look again but
there are few, if any screws there. And my model of Impreza does not
have an ash tray.

One other posts suggested starting at the driver and passenger shared
armrest, and working your way to the dash. Is this the only way to
access the radio in these Imprezas?
