Outrageous labor charges$$$$

My pkg brake needs adjustment, watched a UTube video, had an idea how to Dow on my 06 WRX STi, however my son took off to So Cal w/ my floor jacks, was curious bout having gone at local tire shop BIG 'O', do lady at desks quotes me $80 Bucs min (1hr) labor, talk 'bout 30 mix max rip off job! So I guess to do the job safely I should buy jack stands & decent jack right? Any suggestions?

You’re gonna pay $80./Hr at most garages for labor these days.

Inflation? It’s 2019. Everything is expensive.

Auto zones durralast Jack stands have done well for me the first pair I bought only ran me about $25-38 (one if my pair of stands i bought on sale.)

Mechanic makes maybe $20/hr. Dealership has expenses. The lady quoting the price is one of those expenses.

So what does the mechanic make $25 or so, if hes lucky.. Might only take him 20 min to do the 1 hr job bit will still cost $80..
